Multi-species ecology delivery

Protected species surveys with the same rigour as our specialist teams.

EchoSight coordinates licenced surveys, mitigation strategies, and defensible reports that align with the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017.

  • Bat roost assessments
  • Reptile presence/absence
  • Great crested newt surveys
  • Mitigation & licensing

Licensing note: All licensable actions are delivered or overseen by appropriately registered Natural England licence holders.

Integrated support for mixed-species projects

We combine mobilisation, fieldwork, reporting, and licensing pathways so your submissions stay compliant across bats, reptiles, and great crested newts.

Mobilisation & scope confirmation

Programmes start with a joined-up review of constraints, planning triggers, and seasonal requirements.

  • Desk-based review of drawings, trigger lists, and previous survey evidence
  • RAMS aligned to your company procedures and stakeholder needs
  • Survey programme mapped to planning, mitigation, and licensing milestones

Experienced field delivery

Licenced ecologists coordinate mixed-species effort so evidence is gathered efficiently and safely.

  • Bat, reptile, and GCN specialists deployed within agreed survey windows
  • Thermal imaging, acoustic analysis, and habitat assessment captured in-house
  • Biosecurity, welfare, and safety controls embedded in every visit

Reporting & mitigation support

Outputs are compiled in-house so consultees can track evidence trails and approve mitigation quickly.

  • BS 42020/BS 42021 aligned reports with GIS figures and appendices
  • Clear triggers for mitigation, licensing, and monitoring conditions
  • Follow-on support for licence applications and method statements

Designed for planning and construction programmes

A single point of contact coordinates field teams, reporting, and licence submissions while keeping stakeholders informed.

We mobilise from Newbury with approximately 60 road miles of included travel (120 miles return) and schedule further afield assignments with transparent allowances.

Early engagement secures peak-season availability and ensures mitigation pathways are documented ahead of planning deadlines.

Working alongside ecology leads, planners, and contractors, we sequence surveys around project constraints and coordinate licence submissions with Natural England where required.

Frequently asked questions

Timing, mobilisation, and deliverables for protected species surveys.

When should I book surveys for bats, reptiles, or great crested newts?

Survey windows vary by species. Bat activity surveys run spring to autumn, reptile presence/likely absence from April to September, and GCN traditional surveys during mid-March to mid-June. We’ll confirm the optimal window during scoping.

How much lead time do you need before mobilising a team?

We can mobilise within 5–10 working days for most projects. Complex mitigation or larger teams may require a longer lead-in—contact us early so we can hold dates.

What will I receive once surveys are completed?

You’ll receive a planning-ready report, GIS outputs (if required), raw data files, and a debrief call to agree next steps. Reports are aligned to BS 42020/BS 42021 and ready for submission.

Can EchoSight support licence applications?

Yes. We support Natural England licence submissions, mitigation design, and monitoring conditions, working alongside your internal team to prepare documentation.
